For the Z-Library upload page, on the page for setting metadata, I request that the following two languages be added to the list of languages:

• Erzya (ISO 639-2 code myv);
• Moksha (ISO 639-2 code mdf)

A project is ongoing to scan most literature in these two languages, but so far the language cannot be specified when the books are uploaded to Z-Library. Correct language tags for uploads are of great importance for Z-Library users and downstream data consumers.

I'm just an enthusiast uploader.

There are books in weird scripts (non ABC alphabet) I can't fill the metadata for. Old books don't even have isbn to patch metadata from isbn code. Yet, every book on the site has a "suggest correction" button and mods/other people would check what I fix.

So, I wanna suggest a similar thing:

I upload.
It goes to a category like "need someone else who knows the language to fill title, author,...etc".
I can provide generally as an option which language it is (ethiopian, indian, chinese,..., or I don't know) if possible.
Community can open that category, check the files in that list (Litera reader could be helpful here) and fix what they can fix.

This is supposed to be what moderation is for. You upload, check the language on the book is correct, and that determines which moderator the book goes to (it goes to more than one, but they all can read that language).

The system falls over when uploaders don't bother to set language, or the book metadata auto-sets the wrong one - if I'm moderating German, I'll never see your German book with the language set to Arabic.

It also falls over when the moderator doesn't do their job and doesn't check the book properly. This also happens, and all we can do is try to work out which moderators are behaving like that; a slow process.

Additionally, if you can't find the metadata, there's good reason to believe we won't be able to find it either. Its rare, but sometimes the existence of a book has disappeared from the web. It may have local offline resources referencing it, but without knowing where it was published... We just do what we can.

One resource that I often find helpful is https://www.imagetotext.info/. If I don't know the language the book is in, and it hasn't been OCRed, I screenshot the title or the most clear section of text I can, and bung it on that site. It is the best OCR I have come across and it is incredibly rare it doesn't know what characters it is looking at.

You can then copy the results out of there and put it in deepl translator, google translator, or your translator of choice to see what language it actually is.

I have a couple of questions about features and other things:

I discovered that it is quite difficult editing hundreds of books that you uploaded, one by one, therefore I was wondering:

1) Is it possible for the Edit Book screen to encompass all of the information in one smaller box, without having to scroll?

2) For the ISBN, ASIN, ISSN box:
Fetching the info with an ISBN 10 or 13, does not fill category or language
Since filling out ASIN code and fetching results in invalid ISBN error, should the ASIN option/word be removed?

3) Is it possible to add a bulk edit option, for when you have multiple books in a series, or just want to quickly add basic information for all the books in a collection? Also, would it be possible to use the arrow keys to go from one book to the next, in the Edit Book screen?

4) Is it possible for the Series tag to show all of the books in the series, in a list? For books in already existing series, or for books that will be uploaded to new series? For example, if I search for the Harry Potter series, I get the list with all the titles in order (Philosopher's Stone; Chamber of Secrets; Prisoner of Azkaban; Goblet of Fire; Order of the Phoenix; Half-Blood Prince; Deathly Hallows), and not different titles.

Maybe this one isn't very clear.

5) Is it possible to choose different language queues for moderation, if you're moderating multiple languages, instead of having titles from all of them in the same queue? There's going to more moderators for the English language, than your own native language, for example.

6) Also, I would like an invite to the telegram moderator group, please, if possible.

If your eyes are good enough you can reduce the size of text in the box by holding [ctrl] and spinning the mousewheel on most browsers. If you do not have a mousewheel, try [ctrl] andthe + / - keys. This can easily reduce the size of the box to fit on one screen.

No, since some books only have an ASIN. Amazon has been making a big push for quite a while to try and make sure their published books have an ASIN and an ISBN only if the author pays extra. ASIN is still useful for locating the specific book.

In the same vein many journals use ISSN numbers, and many textbooks have a mix of ISBN and DOI. The unique numbers are always useful for helping find the book, even if they cannot currently be used on fetch.

Its possible. However, would it be used, or abused? Right now the scales lean heavilly in favour of abused, as those not really interested in anything but points could use it to add the same details to a thousand files.

what you can do is set all to be book or all to be article witha click, either in a FTP collection upon creation of that colleciton, or in web upload when you have three or more books in web.

Not currently possible to search by series: I've asked for this too. It would also help in editing, as I sometimes spell the same series differently, and would love an easier way of checking for that.

What you can do, is add the series to the title. For example:
Flame of the forge - Forge, Book 1

That's book tittle - series title, series number

Some do it as:
Flame of the Forge, (Forge, 1)

Same concept, different format. Important part is that if the series is in the title and separated somehow so a human can see its not part of the book title, it can be searched for.

Deselect other languages when you hit a glut of those in your native. Don's worry if it refreshes the book; it'll come round again.
