How to upload books larger than 100Mb over Tor?

Post by soulfire »

my OS is whonix. My ftp software is filezilla. I set filezilla's proxy as sock5 127.0.0.1:9050.

It can successfully connect server. But every time I upload, it fails.

The book I try to upload is illegal in my country. It could lead to my arrest. So I have to use Tor.

Has anyone try it?

For files larger than 100 MB, please use the FTP uploader.

1.) FTP with TOR:

2.) You can try to split the large PDF into smaller parts with a PDF Editor like Acrobat.

3.) You can try to convert the PDF into epub, which will be much smaller. BUT, DO NOT use the conversion offered by Calibre. It will produce junk only.
A real conversion is much harder. First, you have to transform the PDF into a set of image files. Second, you have to feed this set into a OCR program like ABBY Finereader, which produces a .docx text file. Third, if the book contains tables or illustrations, cut or extract them from the PDF and insert it to the .docx. Fourth and final, convert the file into epub.

Please do not split a book into chapters. One file only please. Chapters will fail moderation if the moderator is paying attention, or be marked for deletion later as they are found.

You can compress the file, or simply edit it to see if anything can be stripped. Blank pages from the end for example, or images that aren't adding anything but decoration. PDFGear is an extremely efficient PDF compressor. Use it on low and it will optimise the file then reduce image colour density before it even thinks about reducing image fidelity. You likely won't lose any readability.

Higher settings absolutely will impact readability.
